The Marina is operated by the Blades Economic Development Corporation (BEDCo) and is staffed with a dock master and assistant. Our hours of operation during boating season are Thursday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, contact numbers are posted on the door of the Harbormaster Building for assistance during the hours we are not open.

The Marina was built with a similar design to the Hilton Head, South Carolina marina and has 87 slips which feature floating concrete docks. A pedestal services each pair of slips and features both 30 amp and 50 amp service in addition to town water.

It is the opinion of many cruisers that the Nanticoke River is the most beautiful river tributary to the Chesapeake Bay. The distance to the marina from Buoy 1 in Hooper's Straits is approximately 41 miles. There is a fair amount of commercial river traffic so it's not uncommon to encounter tugs and barges while navigating it's length.

Some scenic towns are located on the Nanticoke River. Vienna, MD had much history and there are docks and bulkheads for boats and restaurants located two blocks from the river. Further up the river is the town of Sharptown, MD which boasts a fireman's carnival which is held for several days in August.

At Woodland, DE there is a state operated ferry that is a tourist attraction. When you arrive in Seaford, you will see barges at various depots and after the railroad bridge (which is open most of the summer) you will see the entrance to the marina on the starboard side of the river (or in Blades, DE.).
