| A vessel safety check (VSC) is a courtesy check of your boat to verify the presence and condition of certain safety equipment required by state and federal regulations.
The vessel examiner is a trained specialist and is a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. They may make certain recommendations and discuss certain safety issues that
will help you be a safer boater. |
| The VSC is not a boarding and NEVER a law enforcement action. NO citations can or will be given as a result of this encounter. The examiner will supply you with a copy
of your evaluation so that you may follow some of the suggestions given. Vessels that pass will be able to display our distinctive VSC decal. This does not exempt a
boater from law enforcement boarding by local, state or federal agencies, but you will be prepared to make those possibilities a positive encounter. |
